As you wish Your Holiness. Project Rebirth is our attempt to create an unfeeling, nigh invincible, and easily replaceable army of the dead.
We plan to stimulate a cadavers muscular structure with several portable, yet powerful, batteries installed inside the reanimated's chest cavity. We will shield the power sources with ballistic sheets and several inches of tempered steel, we will also leave most of the original body structure to act as extra padding.
So far, basic muscle movement and reanimation has been achieved in corpse test subjects. We theorize that fine motor skills can be achieved within months, if not a few weeks. While they may not be able to play a piano, the reanimated will be able to pull a trigger and aim a weapon. In addition, the test subject will become far stronger than it was alive. Victims of the tetanus bacterium have been reported to break bones during muscular spasms, we plan to recreate the same unbridled strengh with electricity.
However, while muscle movement has been achieved and the subjects have been able to move their limbs and clench digits, the brains are a different story. Anon brain tissue decays rapidly once the body has died, we believe that with enough healing magic we will be able to keep the neurons alive during subjects operational span. Our neural structure also gives us a decided advantage when it comes to reanimation. Our neurons are directly connected to each other, thus power can flow without having to jump across a gap. This will drastically reduce energy comsumption and prolong brain life. The brains will be connected directly to the batteries and muscles by fiber optics to ensure prompt response without relying on the existing neural structure. The brains will only be connected to the muscles and cybernetic sensory organs to reduce chance of misfiring nerves causing problems and interference from prior body management systems. An additional facet of our plan is to use magic to implant thoughts into the reanimated brains, this will insure fanatical loyalty and negate excessive training of subjects. In addition we will replace the eyes with photo-optics, this will remove the possibility of being easily blinded and ensure transmission at the speed of light rather than thought.
We also have plans to construct special suits of power armor specifically for them. They are designed to function as mobile refrigerators, cold enough to slow the decomposition process but warm enough not to impair movement. With sufficient amounts of healing magic we may also be able to slow putrefaction even further.
The resulting creature will be very tough to kill again. Only decapitation, dismemberment, removal of power source, or severe brain damage can stop it, anything less will serve only to annoy them. While reflexes and targeting will suffer these drawbacks will be more than matched by sheer strength and durability.
Since we have no need of any other parts of the body than the muscular, skeletal, and parts of the nervous system the rest acts as simply padding, absorbing further punishment without a murmer of protest from the disconnected mind.
With the addition of Project 115 we can sheath their armor in the, if it exists, magic reduction material. Thereby reducing the chances of interference from enemy combatants.

Excellent! The only addition We can suggest would be an implanted Faraday cage around all power sources. We would hate to lose Our soldiers to an errant electromagnetic pulse.

They are a terrible threat to Equestria as well. Why Celestia allows such creatures to exist within her kingdom’s borders We cannot fathom.
If I may, My Queen, once Project Rebirth has reached the field testing phase the Diamond Dogs tunnels will provide an ideal arena to collect data on thier capabilities.

Yes. We have plans, you know. If We could adapt plants to run directly off of nuclear fusion, We could grow a forest in minutes, and enough food to feed all of Equestria for a year in a single day.

You know I'm not sure what everyone complains about this eternal night plan you have, I spent all my early years in an underground cave. I didn't even see the sun untill I was old enough to fly.
They all think everything will die out without the sun. Don’t they realise that the sun is just a nuclear reactor, and that a ponymade nuclear reactor can be adapted to provide energy to grow plants much more efficiently?
