We blame a series of novels that came out recently that featured a dragon that could transform into a handsome stallion that glittered in the sunlight, and fell in love with the series’ heroine.

I don't know nightmare. It's Slaaneshi daemons you're heretically summoning. Disregarding the fact I should immolate the lot of you for such an affront, you're trying to summon SLAANESHI Daemons in hopes of controlling them.
While the box itself is definitely a creation of Slaanesh, the creatures it summons are not. The realm they originate from is not a part of the warp, but another universe altogether.
Besides, they were quite simple to control. They seemed almost eager to be given work, in fact.
