As she does so, she is assailed by feelings of doubt and self-pity, seemingly from nowhere.

The light still gives no answer, but seems to react to the name, shrinking and contorting slightly.
Nightmare Moon extends her hoof towards the light. “It’s okay. Whatever happened, it’s okay.”

So, all nobility must be related to you by blood or own large amounts of land, yes?
Under Celestia’s system anypony can buy their way into a hereditary title, either through donations to government projects or through service to the crown. Under the system We will implement, however, there will be no hereditary nobles. A pony may gain status within their lifetime through service, but the rulership of Equestria will solely belong to Us and Luna.
