*Nightmare Moon opens the cage door just enough to poke her head in, then touches her horn to Scootaloo’s forehead, scanning her for any sort of corruption.*

((ooc: The Abyss is a major villain from some of my previous RPs. Basically it’s a universe-eating cosmic horror. It’s not related to the heartless in any way, but it’s manifestations look similar enough to heartless to get NMM worried.))

Nightmare Moon, my friend has filled out the necessary checklist pertaining to her vampirism (transcribed verbatim):

[X] Fear silver?
[X] Fear religious symbols?
[X] Fear religious leaders?
[] Sleep in a coffin?
[] Require daily contact with their native soil?
[X] Have a horribly mutated appearance?
[] Sparkle in the sunlight? HELL NO!!!!!!
[] Transform into a wolf and/or bat? (Does Mist count? I can turn into that.)
[] Transform into a snake?
[] Control a horde of zombies?
“Um… as for my appearance under these bandages, I have scars my mane is patchy, oh, and my flanks are scaly now… and for some reason, I can walk out in sunlight with out a problem.”

Hmm… Your friend’s symptoms are not consistent with any major subspecies. Can you tell Us how they got infected?

Oh, and perhaps you’d better ask them about some of the rarer symptoms:

[] React to water as if it was acid?

[] Desire to eat the organs as well as drink the blood of victims?

[] Wither nearby plant life?

[] Feed on the breath of sleeping ponies?

[] Have an insatiable sexual appetite?

[] Leak a viscous black fluid from their orifices?

[] Have a third eye, imagined or real?

Sweetie Belle didn’t get caught. I don’t know why, the Heartless just kind of let her go. I was alone there…
I’m not sure how I was even still alive. I just know I had to run, because there were Heartless everywhere. So I ran, and hid, and avoided them any way I could, but I couldn’t keep it up forever.
It wasn’t easy but I figured out how to use the darkness. It reacted to my heart, when I got scared and angry and needed the power to fight back, and with it I started destroying the Heartless. And that’s when the Keyblade appeared.
It wasn’t long after that you guys showed up and I took off. After that I went to another world, and found Sweetie Belle, but before I could talk her into coming with me I got sent back to Equestria somehow. She seemed scared of me for some reason.
…that means I screwed something up, doesn’t it? And just now, with Apple Bloom, I did it again.

*Nightmare Moon sits silently for a while and thinks over what Scootaloo said. Finally, she nods, then turns to look at Scootaloo.*

We don’t want to worry you needlessly, and We must admit We know little about these ‘heartless’, but they remind Us of something We’ve faced before. If they are at all similar to the Abyss, and you’ve been using their powers, it’s possible you’ve become infected. With your permission, We’d like to examine you for possible taint.
