Worship the rightful Queen of Equestria!

ask-discord-the-evil-dick-deact asked: The thing that's on your head all the time. Do you have a helmet on in your profile picture?

*Sigh.* Yes, We do.

Here is a picture of Us without Our helmet:

ask-discord-the-evil-dick-deact asked: Is that blue thing on your head a helmet or your mane?

We don’t know what you’re referring to.

Our helmet is blue, and Our mane is blue. Both are on Our head.

Anonymous asked: Shall I destroy your sister?

Go right ahead, if you think you’re capable of it.

We’ll send the wagon for your remains in, say, an hour.

queenfrau asked: Eh, cuddle addict? I can live with it, but it seems more of an insult than a nickname...

It is not an insult, but merely a descriptor.

Nightmare Moon sighs. “It’s been quite a while. Close to two years, now.”

She turns to Arcel’s mother. “What signify the words, ‘Lux ex tenebris’?”

((ooc: The proper response is ‘that is the depth of darkness you ought to retire from, in order to gain the true light.’, but it’s probably unlikely that the rites have survived a thousand years intact.))

Eon gave Arcel a stern look, which actually caused the latter to wince a bit.

She continued to bow, “… that is the darkness you retire to, in order to gain true insight.” she recited from the word passed down version of the rights, having no idea that over the thousand years, the words kind of got mixed up.

Nightmare Moon nods. “Close enough, We suppose, though We can see that some reteaching needs to be done. Rise, and know that We are proud that you and your predecessors have kept the true light alive all these centuries.”

Nightmare Moon turns to Arcel. “We shouldn’t keep your family standing here in the hall. We’ve ordered an early dinner, or late breakfast, if you prefer, served in the grand dining room.”

dreamofhircine asked: ((What are the extent of Nightmare's powers? How close to being a Goddess is she really? For instance, could she grant something like a blessing that would strengthen a champion of her cult, or is her power limited merely to affecting her immediate surroundings?))

((ooc: That’s a tricky question. Now, this is all going by my headcanons about how divinity and magic work in Equestria (which borrow extensively from both Nobilis and the oWOD's Mage).

She does have a divine spark (a fragment of Luna’s), which puts her power beyond any sort of mortal limit. In theory, she could rewrite Equestria at will (as can Celestia and Luna). Practically, however, she is limited by the fact that directly using her powers against Celestia or her agents would (safely assuming that Celestia would retaliate in kind) rapidly escalate to a mutually assured destruction scenario (with most of Equestria caught in the crossfire). In addition, Luna (by virtue of being the creator of her divine spark), Galaxiour (by virtue of being the creator of all Equestria), and the Elements of Harmony (as tools forged by Galaxiour with access to many of his powers) are all capable of destroying her out of hand, with very little threat to themselves (though the Element bearers are probably totally unaware of this fact).

As a result, Nightmare Moon only rarely deploys her true powers in combat (in the events depicted here she’s done it four times, each time against an extra-Equestrian threat). Instead, she seeks ways to ‘cheat’ by employing alien magic or technology to achieve her aims, believing Celestia takes the threats posed by these less seriously and can thus be taken by surprise.

A champion of her cult would be more likely to receive a cyborg implant or undergo genetic engineering (couched in religious terms, of course) than any sort of true divine blessing.))

((ooc: Nightmare Moon’s cult, as I envision it, makes heavy use of light and darkness in its symbolism. Basically, the cult teaches that there is false light (Celestia) and true light (the power and knowledge Nightmare Moon grants her followers, stuff that Celestia would forbid ponies to use), and that one has to move from the false light, through the darkness (Nightmare Moon ordering you to risk your life or do hard labour for her whims) to achieve the true light.

I’ll flesh it out some more later.))
