Sapient undead, especially those bound to a creator, occasionally go… odd. They start going around, trying to settle old scores and unfinished business, slowly slipping into madness all the while. Then the paranoia and false accusations start, and soon they’re off murdering orphans and ranting about how everything was better when they were alive.

Whether the attack was legal or not, such an act shows a propensity towards violence that is never a good sign in a sapient undead. Why, he might even be going rogue.
