Do farmponies really need to know the time? Under Our rule there will no longer be any unnecessary ‘seasons’, which is the only thing We can think of that farmers would need to keep track of.
Why there were any to begin with has always been a mystery to Us. Equestria’s axis has no tilt, so all the seasons are artificial constructs. Presumably it is some sort of cultural hold-over from ponies pre-Equestrian origins.
