ah ive been there before. The key is to always build by the spawn point. Or make a path to the location you are building IF its to far. Sadly ive had this problem before and never found my old structures :/

Of my other PCs (the ones I actively use, that is. I’m a bit of a pack-rat when it comes to computers), one doesn’t actually have a graphics card (I access it through a serial port or remote login), one simply has a featureless black screen without even a menu bar, and one runs MS-DOS.))
